Camping!

Well, I know it has been a long time, but here I am! Mom, Kathy and I all got together and took the 6 kids on a camping trip Sunday and Monday night. It was pouring down rain as we left the house, but we decided to go anyways because the weather behind it looked clear.. We got there and got all set up, thought we had the perfect location for our tents..boy was we wrong..but more on that later! After camp was set up we went for a nice swim, and had lots of fun! Might have almost lost a kid who decided to head back to camp to look for goggles and ended up looking in someone else's van for them! We got back to camp and we had foil dinners prepared to eat..yum! Sausage link, potatoes, and corn on the cob. We ate well, then decided as it was getting dark to go for a quick dip to cool off, but didn't let the kids swim because of the fact it was getting dark. When we got back we roasted marshmellows and made smores! That night we sat around the campfire and told stories (though not scary ones) and sang songs (yes I know) and had a good time. About midnight we all decided to hit the sack.. About 4 am the thunderstorm came and we all realized just how bad our tent site was! Kathy's tent was in the middle of an ocean and mine and mom's tent was in the trench that formed the ocean. so by 4:30 we were all wide awake except the 2 boys, apparently their tent was mostly dry. We started our camp fire up again and went on about our day. We went swimming 4 times on Monday, played in the mud, and caught bugs. the kids dug a trench, and chased each other around while the adults were busy trying to prepare meals and dry bedding. On one of the swimming trips, Mom saw a snake and about had a heart attack..for real.. I was looking for something to slow her breathing down. On another swimming trip Johnny got ahead of us and hurt his toe, when I got over there his big toenail was bent up about half way back.. but we got that fixed too with no major problems, just one big yelp! And Mom who can't swim well almost flipped her tube so I had to go out and rescue her, she was frozen stiff on her tube! That night we went to bed exhausted! (and yes we did move our tents!) We still got damp that night, but not as bad, except for poor Kaleb he woke up soaked..Johnny slept on! We stayed most of the last day and played and took down camp. over all it was a good time.
